As someone who focuses on Women’s Mental Health, it’s been part of my work for years to raise awareness of what can have an impact; topics like Domestic Abuse and Pregnancy.
It doesn’t matter how well you eat or how much exercise you take, if you feel deep down you’re not worthy of love and affection your health can suffer.
Many women I have met have a feeling that they’re just not “good enough” – can you relate?
Much of our negative self-image and sense of worth comes from historical conditioning that, in some cases, was so subtle we didn’t even realise we were being programmed to accept less than we deserve. (If this sounds a bit “feminist”, I make no apologies for standing up for the rights of women. What I really care about is keeping women healthy and safe).
This is why I encourage self-care through rest and relaxation, whilst encouraging you to appreciate that you have a right to be heard and ask for your needs to be met. Love isn’t always sacrifice, especially if we are the ones losing out. And self-care isn’t selfish, it’s necessary.
